The Trio of Doom - John McLaughlin, guitar; Jaco Pastorius, bass; Tony Williams, drums - performed at the March 3, 1979, Havana (Cuba) Jam festival and entered a New York City studio for the only time five days later to work on some of the material from the show. This is the first-time release of the collected works of this legendary power trio that includes all the previously unreleased tracks from their live Havana Jam performanance, including Tony Williams' explosive solo drum intro to "Dark Prince." John McLaughlin biography Born 4th January 1942 in Kirk Sandall, Yorkshire, England JOHN MCLAUGHLIN is one of the most important jazz rock fusion musicians who goes back to the very beginning of the genre in the early 60's in England, was instrumental through Lifetime, Miles Davis's seminal works and the Mahavishnu Orchestra in progressing the genre. The Trio of Doom was a short-lived jazz fusion power trio consisting of John McLaughlin on guitar, Jaco Pastorius on bass, and Tony Williams on drums.
